Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 5, 2026
1. Introduction
INTELLIZAPP TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED (“Company”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the GuardZapp platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform and services.
2. Information We Collect
Personal Information
We may collect personally identifiable information, including but not limited to:
- Name, email address, phone number
- Company/organization details
- Billing and payment information
- Employee and guard information (names, contact details, identification documents)
- Precise GPS location data of guards during active shifts (see Section 3 for details)
Usage Data
We automatically collect usage information such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and access times.
3. Location Data Collection (Precise Location, Foreground & Background)
The GuardZapp mobile application collects precise location data (latitude, longitude, accuracy, speed, and timestamp) from a guard’s device using GPS, Wi-Fi, and cellular signals. This section explains exactly what we collect, why, when, and with whom we share it.
3.1 What We Collect
- Precise (fine) location — latitude/longitude coordinates accurate to a few metres
- Location accuracy radius, speed, bearing, and altitude (when available)
- Timestamps for each location sample
3.2 Purpose — Why We Collect Precise Location
- Attendance verification — confirming a guard is physically present at the assigned client site at shift check-in and check-out
- Geo-fencing — alerting supervisors when a guard enters or leaves the assigned site perimeter during a shift
- Real-time supervision & safety — enabling employers and clients to view a guard’s live location during an active shift, and to respond rapidly to SOS or duress events
- Patrol verification — recording that scheduled patrol checkpoints were physically visited
- Payroll & compliance — generating verifiable shift records for wage and labour-law compliance
Location data is not used for advertising, marketing, profiling, or sold to any third party.
3.3 When We Collect It — Including Background Collection
Precise location is collected only during a guard’s active shift, beginning when the guard checks in / starts duty and ending automatically when the guard checks out / ends duty. Outside of an active shift, the app does not collect location.
During an active shift, location is collected continuously, including in the background when the app is not in the foreground or the device screen is off. To make this transparent and compliant with Android requirements, the app runs a persistent foreground service while a shift is active. This means:
- An ongoing notification is displayed in the device’s notification tray for the entire duration of the shift, clearly indicating that GuardZapp is tracking location.
- The notification cannot be dismissed by the user while the shift is active — this is intentional, so the guard always knows tracking is in progress.
- The foreground service uses the
ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATIONandFOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATIONpermissions on Android, which the user is asked to grant explicitly. - Tracking automatically stops, the foreground service is terminated, and the notification is removed when the shift ends.
3.4 How Location Data Is Shared
Precise location data of a guard is shared with:
- The guard’s employer (the security agency or company that registered the guard on GuardZapp) — supervisors and authorised admins can view live and historical location during shifts.
- The client site the guard is assigned to, where the employer has enabled client-side visibility, and only for the duration of that assignment.
- Our infrastructure providers (e.g. Supabase / cloud hosting providers) strictly to store and transmit the data on our behalf, under data-processing agreements.
- Law enforcement or legal authorities when required by a valid legal process.
We do not sell, rent, or share precise location data with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers for advertising purposes, or any third party for commercial purposes unrelated to the service.
3.5 Retention
Precise location records are retained for the period required by the employer’s contract and applicable labour, payroll, and dispute-resolution requirements (typically up to 12 months), after which they are deleted or anonymised. Guards and employers may request earlier deletion in line with Section 7 (Your Rights), subject to legal retention obligations.
3.6 User Control
- Location permissions are requested at runtime; the user must explicitly grant precise-location and background-location access.
- Permissions can be revoked at any time from the device’s system settings; revoking them will prevent the guard from checking in to shifts that require location verification.
- The foreground-service notification provides a continuous, in-device indicator that tracking is active.
